Coquito is Puerto Rico's Christmas drink — a thick, creamy coconut eggnog of coconut milk and cream of coconut bound with sweetened condensed and evaporated milk, spiked with white rum and perfumed with vanilla and cinnamon. Its name means "little coconut," and it is the festive heart of the island's holiday table, made in batches from Thanksgiving through Three Kings' Day, bottled, and shared. Pale, sweet and potent, it is served well chilled in small glasses with a dusting of cinnamon or nutmeg. Unlike American eggnog it is built on coconut rather than a custard base, and most modern versions use no egg at all.
