Sumatran coffee is one of the darkest, heaviest cups in the specialty world — earthy and savoury, laced with cedar, tobacco, dark chocolate and a herbal-forest funk over a syrupy, full body. Grown on the volcanic highlands of northern Sumatra and shaped by the island's distinctive wet-hulled Giling Basah method, it trades brightness for depth, weight and rustic soul. Low in acidity and unmistakably of its place, it is coffee at its most brooding and mouth-filling.
