Cocona (Solanum sessiliflorum) is a tropical fruit native to the Amazon basin — a close relative of the tomato, eggplant and pepino. Egg-shaped and yellow to red when ripe, it has a tangy, tomato-like pulp used across north-western South America in hot sauces, juices, jams and savoury stews.
