Calamansi juice is the everyday Filipino citrus cooler made from calamansi — the small, intensely sour green-to-orange fruit (Citrus × microcarpa) often called Philippine lime or calamondin — squeezed and let down with water and sweetened with sugar or honey. Tart, bright and aromatic, it is the Philippines' answer to lemonade, served ice-cold against the tropical heat and also drunk warm as a folk remedy for coughs, colds and sore throats. It is non-alcoholic, caffeine-free and naturally rich in the fruit's vitamin C. The drink is the beverage made from the fruit, distinct from the calamansi fruit itself, which is more often a souring condiment than something eaten out of hand.
