Café bombón is a small, sweet Spanish coffee built as a visual layered serve: a shot of hot espresso poured over an equal measure of sweetened condensed milk, presented in a clear glass so the two settle into distinct bands — a dense, golden layer of condensed milk on the bottom, the dark espresso above it, and a thin ring of caramel crema on top. It is closely associated with Valencia and the wider Spanish Levante, where the name — Spanish for "bonbon", a little chocolate sweet — captures its indulgent, dessert-like character. The drink is meant to be seen layered and then stirred together into a rich, toffee-sweet coffee, and it is drunk in a few sips as a small after-meal or mid-morning treat rather than a long milky breakfast cup.
