The blueberry is the small, round, blue-purple berry of several shrubs in the genus Vaccinium — most cultivated fruit being the northern highbush, Vaccinium corymbosum. Mildly sweet with a clean tartness and a faint floral-green aroma, it is dusted in a pale waxy bloom and eaten fresh by the handful or baked into muffins, pies and jam.
