Scotch Ale — also called Wee Heavy — is a strong, intensely malty Scottish ale, deep amber to dark red-brown, built on rich kettle-caramelised malt for a sweet, toffee-and-caramel body with a faintly roasty edge, very low hop character and a warming, almost dessert-like alcohol.
