Bandung, or sirap bandung, is a sweet, milky-pink rose drink of Maritime Southeast Asia, beloved across Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia. It is made by stirring rose syrup (rose cordial) into evaporated or condensed milk and chilled water, which turns the whole glass a vivid, unmistakable pink. The flavour is floral and frankly sweet over a creamy dairy body, more perfume than fruit. It is a fixture of Ramadan iftar tables, Malay wedding receptions and night-market stalls, served cold over ice.
