Baharat is a warm, aromatic all-purpose spice blend of the Levant, Gulf and wider Arab world — its name is simply the Arabic word for "spices" (from bahar, "pepper"). Built around black pepper, paprika, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, clove and nutmeg, it is the everyday seasoning rubbed onto meats, stirred into rice and stews, and dusted over kebabs and köfte.
