Hass is the dark, pebbly-skinned avocado that dominates the world's produce aisles: small-to-medium and oval, with thick bumpy skin that turns from green to a deep purple-black as it ripens. Its pale green-to-gold flesh is high in oil, giving a rich, nutty, buttery texture that holds up in guacamole, on toast and sliced raw.
