Applejack
Applejack is America's original apple brandy, a warming amber spirit distilled from hard cider that was born in the orchards of colonial New Jersey and New England; once concentrated by "freeze distilling" the cider through a frozen winter, today it is a true heat-distilled apple brandy of baked-apple, oak and honeyed spice, and the signature product of Laird's, established in 1780 and recognised as the oldest licensed distillery in the United States.

Dry to faintly sweet, warming and rounded, applejack leads with baked apple and pressed cider over honey, vanilla and caramel from the charred oak, with cinnamon, clove and orchard-pear depth and a toasty, spirituous backbone. The texture is fuller and more warming than an eau-de-vie, with an alcohol lift at around 40 to 50 percent, and the finish is long, appley and gently oaky, the fruit fading into baking spice and warm wood; blended styles taste lighter and cleaner, straight and bonded bottlings richer and more concentrated.
