The McIntosh is a tender, aromatic Canadian heirloom apple — deep red blushed over a green ground, with snow-white juicy flesh and a sweet-tart, vinous, almost wine-like flavour. It is wonderful eaten out of hand and a classic sauce and cider apple, cooking down readily into a soft, perfumed pulp.
