Amaro Lucano is an Italian herbal amaro (bitter liqueur) from Basilicata in the country's deep south, first produced in 1894. Bottled at around 28% ABV, it is a balanced bittersweet digestivo whose flavour weaves warm caramel and dried-fruit sweetness through a chorus of aromatic herbs, with gentian and holy thistle giving the drink its characteristic clean, rooty bitterness.
